The Role

The Social Media Strategist is a critical part of the social media team. This is the level where you’ll begin to manage the day to day client communications, including the external editing process for our client’s Editorial Calendars. You’ll also take a lead role in content creation efforts (from creating shot lists, to securing models, to executing the content missions and post-production of imagery). Not only can you understand the long term goals and strategy of the account, you can also then connect those goals and the overarching strategy to the content missions shot lists. Through your content creation efforts on both the organic and paid fronts, you help to create our clients' storylines for the next month, next quarter, and maybe even next year.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

Account + Client Management 

  • Assist in the development and presentation of annual strategic plans 
  • Act as client first-responder for imagery requests and photo needs and content calendar requests 
  • Participate actively in internal meetings and be an active voice on all client calls / in-person meetings
  • Guide student interns and post-grads           

Content Calendars

  • Maintain client’s social brand and consistently deliver on-brand copy and content to support their aesthetic and voice
  • Draft mockups and captions for monthly content calendars
  • Own the external editing with client through editorial calendar platform
  • Publish content to Instagram and Facebook in agreed upon cadence 
  • Create on-brand Instagram Stories for clients

Content Production

  • Develop content mission shot list and itinerary from the shoot flow and working with them to ensure they have scheduled/booked everything internally
  • Research and source models/influencers for content shoots
  • Maintain meticulous management of content archives for each client
  • Liaise with account teams to understand overarching client goals, and then connect those to content mission goals, shot lists and itineraries
  • Schedule, hire and procure in advance the appropriate models, influencers, vendors, and props for content shoots
  • Liaise with client contact(s) to confirm itinerary and content mission logistics 
  • For Social Media Strategist who create content/ Content Producer-specific role: 
    • Photography lead in content creation (video, photo, graphic) at on-property shoots
    • Manage post-production on all content shoots in Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop
    • Execute end-to-end content creation efforts (video, photo, graphic) at on-property shoots, managing small productions as you go (locations, set pieces, talent, etc.) 

Community Management

  • Oversee team’s UGC (user generated content) request efforts
  • Lead reactive community management efforts ensuring Post-Grad, Assistant, Coordinator or Community Manager is diligently maintaining cheat sheet 
  • When relevant, oversee proactive community management efforts, assisting more junior team members in identifying successful tactics leading to follower growth

Paid Social

  • Suggest relevant content calendar boosting and working with Social Account Lead to flag for consideration
  • Look at monthly reports and historical insights to identify content performance trends for content boosting and dark ads consideration 

Reporting

  • Create monthly reports with insights. Share recommendations for content calendar shifts internally and apply to next month’s calendar
  • Review and contribute to weekly updates

Other

  • And other tasks, projects, or duties as required
  • Attend conferences, workshops, and events on behalf of the agency

 

Experience

  • College Degree or comparable experience required
  • At least 2 years of experience with digital marketing and/or social media
  • Experience using tools to measure social media ROI and create reporting such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social, and Google Analytics
  • Experience using content management tools such as HeyOrca, Sprout Social, etc.
  • Experience supporting paid social media campaigns on Facebook and Instagram
  • Experience editing photos (Adobe Photoshop/Lightroom)
  • Experience in Facebook Business Manager, Power Editor, Ads Manager, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Canva
  • Agency experience preferred
  • Travel and/or hotel industry experience preferred

 

Requirements

  • Ability to travel for client needs
  • Computer skills, including Word and Excel in a Microsoft Windows environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and experience in a hospitality environment is a plus
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Skills in establishing & maintaining effective, respectful & professional relationships with other employees and clients
  • Basic understanding of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  • Foundational understanding of Influencer engagement
  • Must have a valid passport for international travel
